Located on the Pacific Ocean in southern Orange County, Newport Beach is a lovely city where residents enjoy
exceptional weather, beautiful views, outstanding
schools, and many other incomparable qualities which make Newport Beach the envy of Southern California
living.
Homes & Real Estate
A prestigious community, Newport Beach offers home owners a mix of housing, from modest to opulent, with all styles showing a high level of care. Fortunate to be in possession of a bay that creates water vistas all around the town, as well as a harbor for boats and yachts,
Newport Beach is renowned for its ocean-front properties. But because the City has been building homes since the early 1900s, you will
housing styles ranging from three bedroom homes, beach front cottages, and condos, to island homes
(one island has 29 homes, another 107) and estates located on bluffs overlooking the
bay. You will find that home prices are most often influenced by the views and the proximity to the ocean. However, because
Newport Beach is divided into numerous neighborhoods, each one with its own attributes and
characteristics, home prices vary and afford buyers numerous opportunities.
Finally, for those looking to buy investment property, Newport Beach is a lively location for property rentals since so many beach houses, condos and apartments are located on choice lots near the water.

Schools
Newport Beach is served by the Newport-Mesa School
District, which also serves the City of Costa Mesa. However the success of the schools is a result of the involvement and support of parents and community
members. Their efforts are evident in a $110 million bond that was passed to renovate all schools in the district in 2000, as well as a colorful dress code recently voted in by the parents at Newport Elementary: students have the option of wearing Navy blue shirts, white shirts or Hawaiian shirts (the latter being the most popular), or they can opt out of the code with parental approval. Scholastically, though,
Newport Beach schools shine by scoring in the 8Oth and 90th percentiles compared to other schools in California. In 2000, Newport Harbor High won national Blue Ribbon for running an exceptional program. In 1998, Corona del Mar High School won Blue Ribbon for excellence for a second time. And the private schools are no exception: Tarbut V' Torah also won a national Blue Ribbon for academic excellence.
Community & Recreation
Recreation and leisure activities, as well as everyday amenities are abundant in Newport Beach. An established town, Newport Beach is
known for its small shops on Pacific Coast Highway, Newport Boulevard, on Balboa Island, and in many other neighborhoods. To visit larger stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Neiman Marcus, residents have the choices of
Fashion Island (premier outdoor shopping center) and nearby South Coast Plaza (one of the busiest and most exclusive shopping malls in Southern California). Newport Beach also boasts an variety of
large and small hotels, movie theaters, and gourmet
restaurants. Three golf courses, a large park-ecological
preserve, parks scattered around city, beaches, boating and water sports are available for outdoorsmen and women. The
University of California at Irvine greatly enriches the cultural life, and through its extension program offers a great variety of college-level classes to the public. The City also has
little theater productions, several libraries, a teen
center, jazz and film festivals, art and nautical
museums, and an annual surfing competition. Whales often frolic offshore and can be seen via whale watching expeditions, or from the coast.
To get to other attractions in and around Orange County,
Highway 55 (which leads to other freeways and highways in the county),
Pacific Coast Highway, and Highway 73, a toll freeway from Newport Beach to South County, are all available. For those in need of an air travel the City borders
John Wayne Airport.
